The Leading Hitter and Excitement

Shiina's official English titles for her songs are so goofy. :P

Tsugou no ii Karada = A Convenient Body = The Leading Hitter
Irokoizata = Love Affair = Excitement

Oh well. Apparently it is for the sake of the SYMMETRY~

Tsugou no ii Karada pv! This is MY FAVORITE song from her new album "Sanmon Gossip." I think it's very bold and completely different from what she's done before. Loooove it. Also, the video a bunch of fun too. Really cute and has old-timey cartoon feel to it. Just a good time. Nice time.

Irokoizata pv! Apparently, this is the "boring" song on Sanmon Gossip according to people, but I think it's really lovely. It's so peaceful and Shiina's voice is suited so well to this kind of song (but I am biased I JUST LOVER HER VOICE!!!). THOUGH, the pv... while it is lovely... whoever decided to do her hair that way should be shot immediately. Bad life choice.

and thus my Shiina Ringo project is complete. That went by faster than I expected to. Now I have to get to working all my last projects for school -stress-

OH WELL. I hope anyone who happens to stumble on this/is a fan of Shiina Ringo enjoyed it! :)

I want to do this project with Tokyo Jihen-Shiina Ringo now......

Memory, Mellow, Season, and Vogue

I don't know why Shiina's official translation of Konoyo no Kagiri is "memory" ah well. She's crazy. Here's four drawings

Konoyo no Kagiri pv. I love this video. I love this song. It is so sweet and sincere and beautiful. Also, she sings it with her brother Junpei, and that is just adorable. Okay.

Mellow Pv. I really like this video. I feel like it shares some similarities with the La Salle de Bain video, but anyway. It's a lovely song. Nice strong work from Shiina as always. Curious though, why the video was made way after the song....

Shun pv. This was one of the first songs that popped up from Shiina's newest solo album Sanmon Gossip. I really hated it at first and thought it was soooo boring. It's grown on me though. It's a really lovely soothing song, and I like the projections used in the pv. Like the piano onto her body lying down (which I drew). I was so afraid of messing that part up!

Ryuukou pv. I didn't find out about the existence of this pv until this year during the summer time. It's kind of a blah pv to a catchy song. I'm still not super well-versed in all the Sanmon Gossip songs, but I do enjoy them.

Well that's it for now! Two more left and this project will be over. Insane.

La Salle de Bain and A Song of Apples

Just a couple more Shiina Ringo things... I am still behind >_<

La Salle de Bain. I am pretty sure this is my FAVORITE Shiina Ringo song as well as one of my favorite videos. I pretty much like Yokushitsu anytime and anyway she sings it.

Ringo no Uta. The start of a "new" Shiina Ringo I guess without her trademark mole and such. Since the video goes through her various looks, I chose to draw how she looks at the end : stripped down and fresh or whathave you. The song itself is great too. :)

Fig Flower

This is Shiina Ringo as she appears in the pv for Ichijiku no Hana. I like this song. Simple, beautiful, and mysterious. Just like the pv.

A Rush Job

Oh the coincidences... this was a rush job, too. This is Ringo's look from her Yattsuke Shigoto pv. It is different from all her other pvs because it is meant to mimic the look of a live performance, crowd and all. While Yattsuke Shigoto is one of my favorite songs from Karuki Zamen Kuri no Hana, the version in her pv is actually a gritty rock arrangement of it instead which I AM OKAY WITH. Anyway... that's it I guess. So many mistakes on this one X|

Camouflage

What day is this??? Ah yes day 13. This is Shiina's look from her Meisai pv. She also plays a maid, but I felt diva-Ringo-ina-two-tone-dress was more recognizable. This pv is pretty interesting; I wish I knew what the story behind it was. I have my own thoughts on it, but it's all speculation of course. As for the song itself, I absolutely love it especially since it's on my favorite Shiina Ringo album (Karuki Zamen Kuri no Hana). All the songs on that album are SOOOO good.

Also, I think this is one of my favorite drawings. It's not as rushed as most of the others. I feel like I MIGHT be getting the hang of drawing her face, but not yet.

A Driving Rain in Darkness, Σ, Chastity at Midnight, and Stem

Yay time for catch up!

This is one of Shiina's main looks from her Yami ni Furu Ame pv. I LOVE this song. It's beautiful and amazing and wonderful. Also, the video has an overall sickly looking green look to it so I tried to imitate that in my drawing. Also, the video has relations with the video for Gibs if I'm not mistaken, but I am not sure about the story behind. It's interesting to say the least.

This is one of Shiina's main looks for the pv for Sigma which is one of the B-sides of the Gibs single. It is a whatever sort of song in my opinion though the lyrics do get stuck in my head from time to time since they are in English. Funnily enough this is one of Ringo's songs that a demo was released for and the sound of it is COMPLETELY different from the final product. I was pretty shocked when I heard it!

SO, this is Ringo as she appeared in the Mayonaka wa Junketsu pv...sort of. See, the thing is instead of it being live-action, it's animated. I heard it was because at the time Ringo was pregnant, but I am not sure if that is true. The only time you see her actually wearing this costume is in the Ringo no Uta pv. ANYWAY, this is definitely one of my favorite Ringo songs; I just love the jazzy orchestrated sound to it.

And lastly, this is Ringo as she appears in the video for her song Stem. Now I really don't care for this video even though she looks gorrrrrgeous in it. It's mostly because it's just a "oh look she's singing oh look clips from the movie this song was used in oh" type of video. BUT this song is majorly responsible for me falling in love with Shiina Ringo. It was the second song of hers I had ever heard and just the sound of it, the orchestration and her haunting and powerful voice. IT HIT ME THAT THIS WOMAN IS AMAZING.

and that's it for today. More tomorrow. Whoo!

Break time

Wha so for the past few days I've been super busy with school projects so I put off doing my Ringo project drawings as well. So I ended up working on them but still did not finish which is okay, because I don't have class on Fridays. Not that it matters anyway; no one follows this blog. It's more of a personal project and I wanted to stay on my schedule. Ah well.

Gips

DAY 8! This was kind of rushed. I have a busy school week ahead of me. :| This is the look from the Gips pv. I have to say this is definitely one of my favorite pvs. The imagery is really great and I love how intense she is when singing the chorus/playing the guitar. I didn't really care for the song UNTIL I saw the pv. Now I love it.

One day... I will draw a picture that does her justice X|

Crime and Punishment

Day 7! Not sure how I feel about this one; it came out a little weird, but I really liked doing the "make-up" across her eyes." This is Ringo's look from her Tsumi to Batsu video. Tsumi to Batsu was her 6th single. ALSO, this song is amazing. I love it when she sings so powerfully, and this song is just thatx1000.There is just a lot I like about both the song and the video.

Instinct

Day 6! Here is Shiina's look from Honnou. This was her 4th single. I have to say, I am pretty sure this is her most well-known video, and one of her most popular songs. I always see people say "Oh I got into Ringo because of this song!" or "I introduced my friends to Ringo with this song!" Honestly, It didn't do much for me at all because when I first got into Ringo I liked her quirkier/jazzier songs, and this read as more of a typical poprock-song to me. Though, I liked the idea of Ringo in a nurse uniform! I just thought that was so cool. The song of course has grown on me like always.

Overflow

Time for a break from Shiina Ringo! Yesterday, I completed my weekly illustration assignment; so, I'm posting it here. We had to use a piece of art as our inspiration. So, I decided to use Gustav Klimt as inspiration. This piece in particular:

Water Serpents II by Gustav Klimt

This is what I ended up drawing:

The brightness of the colors and variety of patterns are what attracted me to the original image so I tried to exemplify that in my work. I really enjoyed drawing this, and I am happy with how it turned out. :)

Identity

YAY DAY 5! I think this is my favorite one so far! I'm really happy with how it turned out. This is Shiina's look from her video for Identity . I was never a huge fan of this song, but it's definitely grown on me like always. Also, I think she looks adorable in the video despite the fact that this is one of her wackiest and strangest pvs.

Playing with Blocks

Yay 4th day! This is Shiina's look from her Tsumiki Asobi video. The song is on her debut album Muzai Moratorium. I remember seeing this video a long time ago at anime convention when I first got into Shiina Ringo. Also, the little dance she does every time she performs this is possibly one of my favorite things ever. AND here's one of my favorite live performances of this song. I love how she starts all sweet and quiet and then BAM. It's too awesome.

Queen of Kabuki-Cho

Day 3! This one turned out rushed looking bleh. Even so this is Shiina Ringo's look from Kabuki-cho no Joou. This was her second single! I love this song; it's definitely one of my favorites from her first album. Other than that I don't have much to say.

OH! In the video she wears the coolest shoes. I wish I could've drawn them!

Kiss Me

Second day of my Shiina Ringo project! This is her look from her Koko de Kiss Shite video. It was also her 3rd single. To be honest, I really just did not care for this song at all until recently. The opening had always thrown me off; so I would avoid listening to it. Though, now it's grown on me, and I think overall that it's a pretty catchy and relaxing ballady song. Also, I love her Duesenberg guitar! The color is so cool!

A View of Happiness

So this is the first day in an ALMOST month long project that I hope to complete. It is now November which is my birthday month as well the birthday month of my favorite music artist Shiina Ringo. Not only that, but we share this birthday : November 25th. So everyday, I hope to do a small full color drawing representing Shiina Ringo in her various appearances from her music videos each day.

So here's number one! This is from the video for Koufukuronwhich was Ringo's first ever single. This is one of my favorite Shiina Ringo songs as well especially because of the meaning that I got from the lyrics. When I first started dating my boyfriend, I would send him letters with the translated lyrics on them. Corny, I know, but this song is very special to me. :)
